Edwardian

With the death of Queen Victoria in January 1901, her son Edward took the thrown, and this marked the start of a new century and the end of the Victorian Period.

Some extend the Edwardian period beyond Edward's death in 1910 to include the years up to the sinking of the RMS Titanic in 1912, the start of World War I in 1914, and in some cases right up to the end of the war in 1918.

Muriel 1911 Special Occasion Dress

The Muriel Special Occasion dress was made to honor my dear friend and sewing mentor on her 98th birthday.
I wanted to give her a special birthday gift, and I thought what better way to honor her than with her own design
I made the pattern from a picture of a dress that would have been worn in 1911, the year she was born.
She not only inspired this dress, but she inspired me to start sewing historical clothes to sell. She encouraged me, and Thornton Square was born.

The under dress is made of 100 % cotton. The over dress is made of a lightweight sheer satin.
It is trimmed with cotton lace at the waist, neckline, sleeves, along the bottom and along the bust line.

$795.00
